“O Taste and See that the LORD is Good”

Psalm 34:7

Yesterday, I was sitting in the quietness of my chair, asking God to plan my day. At no time did He indicate anything out of the norm. I said a few prayers for people I know and carried on with the rest of my day.

It’s funny how things happen without warning. One minute everything is normal. The next minute, excuse the pun, all hell breaks loose.

While most think, oh no, that’s not for me; Christians say, “Your will be done, LORD.”

“Why would we do that?”

Why would anyone relinquish time for something the LORD wants β€” for something we can’t see?

Who would have thought my day would end with my daughter’s car doing summersaults on a major highway, landing her in an emergency room visit with something no one wants to happen.

I had no idea this was happening; yet, there is nothing more exciting than living a life filled with faith in a God who cares. Spiritually minded, you are actually standing in the presence of the One and Only God who encamps around those who fear Him. We are His vessels, and He wants us to experience the fullness of His love. He wants us to be completely enriched β€” safeguarded by His care.

Two verses come to mind. Both from Psalm 34: When the saints cry out, the LORD hears. He delivers them out of all their trials (6).

You can bet all of our hearts were crying out the name of Jesus when each of us experienced the moment of this trial. Yes, my daughter Sarah and her son, Jacob, no doubt cried out! Likewise, Jacob, her husband expressed this same virtue, and when I received the message and looking at pictures of my daughter’s crumpled car, the only thing I could say was, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!”

Tears flowing, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!”

No one wants to see their child going through something like this! Our hearts cry out and the LORD hears. ” The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him! And rescues them ” (7)

Verse 8, syncs it by stating, “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (8).

We are blessed in knowing that He upholds us throughout the trials we face. He is with us because we have asked Him into our hearts and have placed our trust in Him. He secures us; Sustains us.

We have to firmly be convinced that He upholds His own. He keeps them safely tucked in the pillow of His love throughout the tumultuous, throwing of a car β€” He is the cushion and not one bone is broken.

Trust is a comforting word that breathes His light and His love. It soothes our hearts and plants us on the firm ground of His will. For the venturesome at heart, there is no better place. T R U S T HIM

He says, TRUST ME!

So maybe it’s your turn to try His hand in faith and say, ” Okay, LORD. I want what You want for me, today. What would You have me do?”

Just remember: All that He has for you is a good thing.

Psalm 34

A psalm of David, regarding the time he pretended to be insane in front of Abimelech, who sent him away.

I will praise the Lord at all times.
    I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
    let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
    let us exalt his name together.

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
    He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
    no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
    he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
    he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
    Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the Lord, you his godly people,
    for those who fear him will have all they need.
10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
    but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

11 Come, my children, and listen to me,
    and I will teach you to fear the Lord.
12 Does anyone want to live a life
    that is long and prosperous?
13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil
    and your lips from telling lies!
14 Turn away from evil and do good.
    Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

15 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
    his ears are open to their cries for help.
16 But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil;
    he will erase their memory from the earth.
17 The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
    He rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
    he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

19 The righteous person faces many troubles,
    but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
20 For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous;
    not one of them is broken!

21 Calamity will surely destroy the wicked,
    and those who hate the righteous will be punished.
22 But the Lord will redeem those who serve him.
    No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned
