Overcoming Abortion

Life can be hard — really hard.

Truth be told, abortion is not for the faint of heart. Like all other choices, it cannot be retrieved, but thankfully, through God’s grace and mercy, it can be fully re-covered.

However, we must realize, once made, this pro-choice path can quickly spiral into a secretive, dark world filled with sorrow, regret, guilt, and shame. Once there, this promised life of “you will be okay” dissolves, giving way to lost feelings of despair, depression, and other destructive behaviors.

While reactions may differ, one can only contemplate the many ways to overcome empty feelings of loss — quickly flooding into one’s soul. You may be thinking, How in the world can I overcome this terrible assault that I am dealing with internally?

It’s like a war raging deeply inside of me. It’s thrusting its way in torture, trying to get out, much like the baby who once was fighting for his or her life — trying to survive, but now is gone! This too, is much like the hope that was lost and now seems gone forever.

Condemnation overwhelms and pleads for a way out, but honestly you feel trapped within the decision that was made so very long ago. Your thoughts clamor, What have I done? How can I overcome this hot mess? Does God even love me?

On one hand, you see how the world offers many unresolved solutions. Self-medication is one way. It numbs the pain for a little while, leaving you with a head-ache, a possible addiction, but no real relief.

Hard work is another way.

So, you ask yourself, “Why not delve into so many other things to keep my mind occupied — away from the torment of reality?”

“But when (she)
came to (her) senses”

Luke 15: 17

Another temporary fix, washing everything — pronouncing me clean and forever free from guilt. This too contains a self-medicating quality that depicts a washing away of all our sins, but it is not real and far away from the real hope of finding forgiveness, love, and peace that overflows into joy.

You wonder, Is all of that possible? Living a life fully free, filled in abundance of hope for my future!

A Hope and a Future

A whole hearted yes rings with a message of truth for you. God can and will breath life into your soul, but it has to be done God’s way. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. (John 14:6). It is His gift to you, and yes, you can trust Him with your future. 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His]only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3: 16-18).

11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’
declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare
and not for calamity
to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

That condemnation that you may be feeling is not from God. It comes from Satan. God loves you and He is actually fighting for you, giving you a hope for your future.

This torment raging inside of you reminds me of a war waging inside Heaven. This one that you are fighting is a spiritual battle for your soul, but God is showing us through His Word that we don not have to fight this battle alone.

Let’s catch a glimpse to see exactly how God as already won.

The Angel, Michael
And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war,and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,
Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. 12 For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”

Revelation 12: 7-12

Three key verses shout victory for everyone who wants to overcome!

  • Satan, (he is the one) who deceives the whole world
  • Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come
  • And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony

God has made a way for His love, His peace, and His salvation to dwell within us. He has given us His power and His kingdom, along with the authority of Christ to enable us to overcome Satan.

Who overcomes?

Who is “they” when it says “they overcame”? Is that me? Is that you? This gets pretty deep, so long story short, they implies to those who “keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” (Revelation 12:17). They are the people who believe in the only begotten Son, our LORD, Jesus Christ. In the end of this book, Jesus is the One who throws Satan into Hell for a thousand years, and He gives us (they) this confirmation. “Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.” (Revelation 22: 7).

How do we overcome?

So, how do we become over comers? Verse 11 explains it two ways. It states, “And they overcame him (the devil) because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony“.

Remember this! It is Satan who we must overcome. He is the one who deceives and wants to destroy anyone and everyone because he knows his time on Earth is short. According to this verse, it takes two things to overcome the ploys of Satan.

  • First Thing: The precious blood of the Lamb
  • Second Thing: The word of their testimony

The Blood of the Lamb

The blood of the Lamb is Jesus. He is the One who grants us victory. He is the One who died on the cross, rose again on the third day, and is now seated on the right hand Throne of God.

When He died, He shed His blood for you and for me. When God gave His Son, He knew that Jesus’s death would be the final Sacrifice for all of mankind. (Hebrews 10: 12-17).

A reference below from biblestudytools.com explains it this way.

Jesus demonstrated the significance of His blood as part of the Last Supper with His disciples. As the disciples sat together, Jesus said, ” ‘Take it and eat it, for this is my body’ ” (Matthew 26:26). He then gave thanks and offered them the cup and said, ” ‘Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which seals the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many ” (Matthew 26:27-28).

The Words of our testimony

This is the absolute best part of being a Christian — the word of our testimony!

It is what we say about Christ. The words and actions that speak out the name of Christ. Are you for Him or against Him? Do you know Him as the Savior of your life? Does He know you?

Your testimony is how you came to know Him, or rather how He came to find you. You see, all along, you probably thought you were the one looking for a way out of your troubles. Curiosity, tapped this site, and wha la, you are here reading this article.

Was God’s perfect timing, drawing you into something that you desperately needed to hear? You see, God is the One who opens the ears of believers, and He is the One who allows us to hear His voice.

My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

(2 Chronicles 7:14)

The Holy Spirit of God may be calling you by name. This may not be an audible voice, but it is a spiritual one. You may feel His presence, tapping at your heart’s door.

Humble yourself

Here is the easy part. He wants you to humble yourself before Him. That means that you are mentally acknowledging yourself as lower than God. You’re His creation, and He knows you by name. He formed you in your mother’s womb, and He knows how many hairs you have on your head.

He is saying to you, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.”(Revelation 3:20)

Pray

He is God, so find a comfortable place where you can talk to Him alone. Remember, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Him, and it is His blood that has the cleansing power to wash away all of our sins.

So, call out His name and thank Him for His wonderful salvation and allow Him to wash you whiter than snow. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Once you do that, don’t ever stop. Seek Him often.

Seek His Face

This is not a one time thing. It’s a binding eternal commitment that neither you nor He will ever forget. Revelations 3:20 tells us that He will come into our hearts and sup with us. In other verses, He tell us that He will never leave us, nor forsake us.

When He tells us to seek His face, that means to look for Him throughout your day. Talk to Him often and listen for His voice and watch for answered prayers. This is a relationship that you are building, so get to know Him and seek Him often through prayer, reading His Word, allowing Him to guide you throughout your journey and life.

Life can be extremely hard.. He actually lightens the load and many times will fight your battles for you if you simply ask Him for help and guidance, relying on His strength. He loves you and actually wants you to seek Him first, above all else, trust Him for He truly cares for you.

Turn from Your Wicked Ways

When you turn from your wicked ways, you are repenting, which means turning away, and asking Jesus to forgive you of your wrong doing, covering you with His precious blood.

You are a new creation in Christ, and there is no greater joy than becoming spiritually, born again. Just remember, when things get tough, Jesus is only a whisper away. Relying on Him and trusting trusting Him for His promises will go a long way. The Bible tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from you. That means you turn away from evil and turn to God.

My Prayer for You

Before we go, let me pray for you.

Dearest Heavenly Father,

I want to thank you for sending Your Son and allowing Him to die on the cross so that we could find forgiveness of our sins. You have made the perfect plan for our redemption, and I just want to give You dear Jesus all of the praise and all of the glory for what You have done.

Thank You for this person who has found this article. LORD, I pray You will speak to his or her heart and overwhelm them with Your love and compassion. Open their eyes and their hearts, so they may see things from Your perspective. Fill them with Your presence, giving them Your peace which passes all understanding, giving them joy, which only comes from YOU! Give way to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him into his or her life.

I pray that You will watch over and guide each visitor who needs to hear this message of love. Guide them throughout their journey in finding You, getting to know You, and abiding with You. Please help them to find a church, filled with believers who are strong in the faith, strong in heart, and eager to obey Your commands. Help us all to be steadfast in love, faithful to Your calling, and joyful always because we have the presence of the Holy Spirit living in us forever. Help us to be Kingdom minded, abiding in You, without waiver.

Last, thank You for making us a “they”, for without You, we are nothing. In Jesus name I pray.
